Loads of colour and activity in the garden here in Bratton Clovelly, West Devon, as we reach the last day of May. Sadly, that includes the length of the grass – which is at a week overdue on being cut and growing like crazy – but I’ll blame the rain last weekend for that…

Enjoying the orchard as it comes into bloom

Like the rest of the country, we had magnificent weather on Sunday and I was able to spend a couple of hours cutting paths in the orchard before the grass completely takes over. It was a real pleasure to be in such a lovely spot on a glorious afternoon.
